Lauren & Adam | Pebble Hill Plantation Wedding

Last March, I traveled back home to Georgia for Lauren and Adam's wedding day at the gorgeous Pebble Hill Plantation. Lauren and Adam are both Georgia natives and love the south, so naturally they wanted somewhere that evoked southern charm and the beauty that rural south Georgia has to offer. The plantation is located in the small, gracious town of Thomasville, Georgia right near the Florida state line and dates back to the late 1800's - its 10,000 acres of rolling fields, tall Georgia pines, magnolia trees, and Spanish moss-laden pecan orchards set the perfect backdrop for their wedding weekend where they held their rehearsal dinner, their ceremony and wedding reception on-site.

They opted for a 'first look' in the beautiful gardens of the plantation home and Lauren's rustic bouquet of fluffy white peonies was wrapped with her great-great-grandmother's handkerchief with her initials monogrammed in blue thread as her 'something blue'. They said their vows under a canopy of Spanish moss trees surrounded by 250 of their closest friends and family, and her childhood best friend's father officiated the ceremony. As the backdrop itself was so beautiful, our goal was to subtlety enhance that beauty by using old church pews for seating with handmade linen and burlap pillows, rustic lanterns lining the aisle, overflowing greenery and candles, and handwritten signage. Their beloved dog even had his own role in the ceremony, bow tie and all! They left the ceremony in a horse-drawn carriage to have their bridal portraits made by the incredibly talented photographer, Jeremy Harwell.

Lauren and Adam were truly a dream couple to work with, not only are they two of the kindest and most humble people I've ever met, they were incredibly trusting throughout the entire planning and design process and allowed me to have creative freedom in all areas. Lauren wanted a very natural and earthy colour palette that played off of the plantation itself, her words were 'simple, yet refined'. The majority of colour used throughout the wedding was in the pastels of the floral design and the peaches at each place setting giving a nod to Georgia. The centrepieces were made up of handmade linen runners in their neutral colour pallette, antiqued milk glass vessels for the floral arrangements and silver and brass candleholders. Their favours were Georgia Pralines from Savannah Candy Kitchen and homemade moonshine served in mini mason jars - it doesn't get much more southern than that! :)
